Commercial :: Envestnet :: “The Essential Advisor” Promo Film :: Chicago, IL

Earlier this year, Envestnet contacted us about creating a film to show at their annual Advisor Summit conference in Chicago that would also promote the new book they are releasing called: The Essential Advisor: Building Value in the Investor-Advisor Relationship written by Envestnet’s own Bill Crager and Jay Hummel, with a forward by Jean Chatzky.

From the beginning, the plan was to create a story-based film that would engage advisors and tell the story of how advisors help change the lives of investors they work with.  We all agreed that it would be great if we could base the video on a true story, so we asked Envestnet to compile a list of stories that they had heard over the years from advisors that we could potentially use as a basis for the film.  It didn’t take them long to come back with a long list of stories, but one of them in particular stood out to us.

The story used in this film is based on a true story and tells the story of how a financial advisor was able to help out an entire family by helping them plan for their daughter’s future.  It was a fantastic story and we knew right away it would be the perfect way to launch their “Essential Advisor” initiative.

Once we have everything locked in place with them, we spent weeks planning, casting, writing the script and preparing our shot list.  We made the decision to film local and have Charlotte be the setting for the film since they have a huge financial services presence.  Once everything was complete, we sent it over to Envestnet for review…. and they loved it.

The film was debuted on May 18th and their conference in Chicago in front of more than 2,000 attendees and then went out to the media to help promote their new “Essential Advisor” initiative.  It is something we are so proud of a story we are so glad we had the opportunity to tell.

In 2015, Adam Merrick contacted us to come to Peoria to shoot a condo for him.  It was one of the highest priced properties in Peoria and it had been on the market, listed by other agents, for a long time with no interest.  Adam made the decision to have us fly up there and shoot one of our lifestyle films for the condo.  In less than a week after the video went live, the condo sold because of the buzz generated by the video.

Fast-forward a year and we were back in Peoria for another real estate shoot with Adam.  We decided to take a different approach with this film since Adam wanted to target this home towards a family with kids.  Due to the amazing success we’d had in the past with kids in our videos, we decided to try it again for Adam.  We managed to find a very talented actress in the area and she took our concept and ran with it.  She killed every scene and really helped add some personality to the video that we’re sure buyers will really love.

Since the seller wanted to focus on the amazing view of downtown Peoria from the home, we made sure we featured it in every room of the house.  By combining Madalyn’s amazing personality with a fun script and amazing shots of all the rooms in the house, we were able to produce a fantastic video for Adam to use in his marketing of the home.

Commercial :: Upward Stars Promo Film 2015 :: “Reflections” Starring Derrick Moore :: Spartanburg, SC

After the success of the last promo video we created with Upward Sports, they contacted us again to work on a brand new video for the 2015 season.  This year, we decided to take a different approach.  They contacted Derrick Moore, former NFL player and current Chaplain for Georgia Tech, and asked him if he would like to be involved and he immediately said “Yes!”

Our goal for this video was to show that there is more to life than sports.  Upward prides itself on creating the “total” athlete.  While they focus heavily on game day performances, they also focus on creating well-rounded athletes who succeed in life outside of sports just as much as they succeed on the court.  For this video, we wanted to show how all of the work and all of the practice these players put in off the court is just as important as the work they do on the court.  In the video, we featured Derrick Moore as a former athlete reflecting on his life in sports, realizing that after all of the trophies and all of the accolades, there really is more to life than just sports.

In the end, we decided to show the athletes featured in the film as they have aged and have become successful people off the court in various ways.

Real Estate Lifestyle Film :: “A House For You” :: 18911 Apian Way, Lutz FL 33558 :: The Duncan Duo

This video is definitely one of our top 5 real estate home films. I love it. After doing these videos for almost 3 years now, I have learned something important: I can write dialog for kids like it is nobody’s business. I also learned another important lesson: writing dialog is only half the battle. It is also equally as important to have actors that can pull off the video and act just like you want them to act. Fortunately, both of those things came together perfectly for this video.

We decided to use our friends, The Ganey Family, from Orlando again for this house. Each time we use them, they nail it. They have been a part of some of my favorite home films, so I love bring them on board every chance I get. This time, I wanted to see how well the kids could pull off a film by themselves. In the past, I have used kids to sell homes, but each time, it was a kid by themselves, so this time I wanted to do something different. The idea here is to have the “pesky” little brother trying to be a part of the video the older sister is doing. Needless to say, it worked like a charm. These guys nailed it and gave me more than I could even ask for. It helped create the perfect video for the home that we feel showed off the great features of the house, and also created a fun video for potential buyers to watch. What more could you ask for.

Real Estate expert, Andrey Bustamante, is a good friend of Andrew Duncan and when he heard about all the success Andrew and the Duncan Duo team were having in Tampa, FL with our videos, he decided to give us a call and try it out for himself.  We have had such great success in other markets using kids in our videos to sell homes that we immediately thought of our friends, the Ganey Family. Casting a real brother and sister for the part was a no-brainer, especially when they are as talented as these two are.  In the end, we created a great video with them and needless to say, Andrey and his team weren’t disappointed with the results.

When we come up with concepts for our real estate lifestyle films, we always try to think of creative ways of telling potential buyers about the home without simply spouting off information to them.  There is no greater instance of that than this film.  We took two awesome kids and their mom and created a script where they were able to tell potential buyers all about the house without the buyer feeling like they were being fed information.  We made a fun, enjoyable film that allowed buyers to learn all about the home in a unique and enjoyable way.

Listing Presentation Film – Misty Soldwisch Real Estate Team – Des Moines, IA

Misty SOLDwisch, the number one real estate agent in the Des Moines IA area, saw the listing presentation film we created for the Duncan Duo and invited us up to do the same for her. Since the Misty SOLDwisch team is one of the top agents in the midwest and the #1 agent in the Des Moines area, we knew we needed to create something that represented the services she offered to her clients.

We spent 4 days in Des Moines following Misty and her team around, talking to them and capturing footage around the Des Moines, IA area.  We also talked to some of her past clients and interviewed them for the video.  We felt like having them tell about their experience dealing with Misty and her team would be a great approach.  Our biggest goal was to present a big-time real estate agent with a small town feel.

In the end, we created a great video that tells the story of what sets Misty and her team apart from other agents, complete with compelling testimonials that bring personal experiences alive in the video.

In 2014, we were invited to Chicago to film a highlights film for Envestnet’s annual advisor summit. Each year, Envestnet brings in thought leaders from around the country to speak to leaders in the financial industry. This year, they featured keynote speakers like Chris Anders, former editor-in-chief for Wired Magazine, and NFL Quarterback, Peyton Manning.

Our goal was to capture the excitement of the event that takes place over 3 days and combine that with interviews from attendees, executives, and thought leaders that were in attendance at the event and use that footage to create a compelling video that would tell the story of the weekend and entice people to attend next years event so Envestnet could use it as a promotional tool for the following year.

Envestnet is a global leader in the financial world, providing integrated portfolio, practice management, and reporting solutions to financial advisors and we are proud of the fact we were able to create a video that perfectly represents their global brand.

Real Estate Lifestyle Film – 3135 S. Highway A1A #401 – Melbourne Beach, FL 32951- “Weekend Getaway” :: Andrey Bustamante

With each real estate video we film, we always look for a fun, unique way to tell a story using the property. This was our first video for Andrey Bustamante, a very popular real estate agent in Orlando FL. When we spoke to him about the property, we knew it was a high end condo, which was a first for us. Andrey told us that he was marketing this condo to people in the Orlando area as a property for them to purchase as a “weekend getaway.”

Our concept for this property was simple, but perfect. Our goal was to show a couple in normal, everyday life on a Monday morning, daydreaming of the fun they had over the weekend. To pull this off, we brought in our veteran real estate actors, Liz Day and John Hardy. They pulled everything off perfectly. They completely ‘sold’ the high-end aspects of this condo and as always made the production even better.

A lot of times, real estate agents ask us what the benefits are of having a real estate film with actors in them. Why not just shoot a normal real estate film that shows the house and property? We feel like this video is the perfect example of why our approach works so well for agents. Not only does this film show the property and the surrounding city, but it also shows the lifestyle that owning a place like this can provide.

A huge thanks to Andrey Bustamante for inviting us down to Melbourne Beach to film our first ever high end beach front condo. It was a great experience getting to work with him for the first time and we are looking forward to doing more work with him in the future.

Commercial :: “Why Women Run: The Colorful Truth” :: Fellow Flowers :: Marquette, MI

Back in June of 2012, we met an amazing group of women who invited us to Chicago to start the promotional video project you see below. At the time, all we knew about them was that they started a company centered around running. Initially, it started out as a group of women who wanted to wear the same color of flowers in their hair to a race so that everyone would know they were running together, but it has now grown into something so much more. They are now a company centered around empowering women runners and honoring and celebrating their stories and their inspirations for running.

This promotional video encompasses 15 months of work, where we shot nearly 40 hours of footage across multiple cities and states. As we started this project back in June 2012, our initial goal was just to capture footage of the race and the weekend of the women in Chicago. We then followed them to Michigan, which is where we initially started to hear these stories of women and what inspired them to run. Our goal at that time was to simply capture footage that told their story visually. We met several women on that trip and heard their stories of why they run and what inspires them to keep running and as we kept hearing story after story, we began to get inspired by what they were telling us.

After we got home from that first trip, we sat down and looked at the footage and used some of it to put together some promotional videos for Fellow Flowers. As the months passed by, we began talking with Mel and Tori at Fellow Flowers and realized that while we had this footage of these women, we were missing the heart of their story. We talked with them for a few months and finally the decision was made to bring us back to Michigan to finish the job and with that, we headed back to Marquette, Michigan. It was April of 2013 and Marquette was COVERED in snow. That weekend, they had a race which allowed us to capture even more footage of some of the women featured in this video. Then, on our last day there, we invited all of the women in and sat them down individually and just pressed record on the camera and talked to them…. for HOURS. We asked them what inspired them to run and dove deep into their inspiration for running and wanted to know why Fellow Flowers was so important for them. What followed was something that completely transformed us. When we met Mel and Tori (the women heading up Fellow Flowers,) our entire perception of running was that people did it to stay healthy. As we heard these women pour out their stories, we realized that so much more than that. It was a part of them, it was a part of their story. It was a way for them to express their emotions and honor significant moments in their lives. That’s what Fellow Flowers is all about and that is what we set out to show with this promotional video.

This is a very special project for us. It is the true epitome of why Artifice Films exists. We believe film is the greatest form of storytelling and to date, this has been one of our greatest examples of storytelling through film. We love the fact that we were able to create a promotional video for a company and do the entire thing by telling the powerful stories that drive that company. No flashy graphics, no endless talking heads… Just powerful stories from women who have been transformed by this company and the work they do.
