Real Estate Lifestyle Film – 3135 S. Highway A1A #401 – Melbourne Beach, FL 32951- “Weekend Getaway” :: Andrey Bustamante

With each real estate video we film, we always look for a fun, unique way to tell a story using the property. This was our first video for Andrey Bustamante, a very popular real estate agent in Orlando FL. When we spoke to him about the property, we knew it was a high end condo, which was a first for us. Andrey told us that he was marketing this condo to people in the Orlando area as a property for them to purchase as a “weekend getaway.”

Our concept for this property was simple, but perfect. Our goal was to show a couple in normal, everyday life on a Monday morning, daydreaming of the fun they had over the weekend. To pull this off, we brought in our veteran real estate actors, Liz Day and John Hardy. They pulled everything off perfectly. They completely ‘sold’ the high-end aspects of this condo and as always made the production even better.

A lot of times, real estate agents ask us what the benefits are of having a real estate film with actors in them. Why not just shoot a normal real estate film that shows the house and property? We feel like this video is the perfect example of why our approach works so well for agents. Not only does this film show the property and the surrounding city, but it also shows the lifestyle that owning a place like this can provide.

A huge thanks to Andrey Bustamante for inviting us down to Melbourne Beach to film our first ever high end beach front condo. It was a great experience getting to work with him for the first time and we are looking forward to doing more work with him in the future.

Same Day Edit :: Carter + Ellison :: “No Time at All” :: Sea Island GA

In 2010, when I started this company after leaving the TV Show, “One Tree Hill,” there was one thing that completely eluded me. Back then, we heard rumblings of wedding cinematographers doing these things called “Same Day Edits” where they would shoot your wedding day and have the video ready to view by the end of the reception. At the time, I couldn’t fathom being able to pull something like that off, but I knew at the time it was something I wanted us to strive for and work towards and that day finally came with this wedding.

For starters, we did have a little bit of a head start on the Same Day Edit since they brought us in to town to cover the Rehearsal Dinner. Since they weren’t planning on having any speeches at the Reception, we made the decision to pull Ellison’s speech from the rehearsal dinner because he nailed it and it gave us the perfect bookend to the film. Everything past that moment was shot the day of the wedding. When we first talked with the event planner for this wedding, Walton Events, we knew this wedding was going to be unlike anything we had done before. They literally pulled out all the stops on this wedding and it was incredible to say the least. After talking with them a few times, they told us Carter’s parents were interested in doing a Same Day Edit as a surprise for Carter and Ellison. The plan was to have everything ready by 10:30 that night and show the video out on the beach just before their fireworks finale. Knowing this was a surprise to Carter and Ellison just pumped us up even more. This video also featured the debut of our drone camera for aerial footage. We worked weeks in advance to set everything up and have it ready for this wedding and we were able to incorporate some of our drone footage into the Same Day Edit as well which we feel added an even bigger “Wow” factor.

When we entered the planning phase for this wedding, we decided to call in our friend Lee Morton from Clickspark in Baltimore. We met Lee a year ago when we went to film in Baltimore for Steve and Meg. He was a friend of theirs and we had a great time talking to him and getting to know him. When we left Baltimore, Lee was just beginning his wedding cinematography business and now he has grown it into one of the best, so we figured what better time for a reunion than this wedding. Kent and Lee handled the shooting that day while I set up an editing station at the reception venue and we began a constant unloading of footage from cameras to computer. One of the biggest decisions we had to make was where to cut off the shooting for the Same Day Edit. Originally our plan was to end all filming for the edit just after the First Dances. However, after talking with Carter and Walton Events, we decided to include some dancing in the edit as well. Carter had told us that the one thing she was most excited about for her wedding was seeing all of her friends together in one place. Her guests were literally there from all over the United States, so we talked with Kelly and Kristen with Walton Events and they too agreed that it would be awesome to have some footage of the guests dancing at the reception in the video. And that is just what we did. Just before our cutoff time, we were able to load footage of them dancing into the edit and it was the perfect way to end the video. Hands down one of our most memorable experiences.

Wedding Film :: Kent + Natalie :: “Laying the Foundation” :: Moore SC

2013 was a banner year for all of us here at Artifice Films. We got to tell some amazing stories, meet awesome people and visit some pretty incredible places. But, I think it is safe to say that one of us had a more eventful year than others. Kent has been here since the beginning and this past November, he decided that after years of filming weddings, it was finally time to have one of his own.

In Kent’s “other” life, he sells dental supplies and that is how he and Natalie met. She worked for a dentist and one day when Kent went to call on that dentist, Natalie began talking to Kent about a dental supply called a “245 carbine bur” that they were having issues with. Kent took care of the issue and they never thought much more about it. Then, 8 months later when Kent was making a routine trip to Home Depot, he happened to see Natalie and her son there. They talked and the rest is history. The cool thing about this is that for a wedding gift for Natalie during their first look, Kent gave her a #245 carbide bur” that he had placed on a necklace and gave it to her since that is where their story began.

Kent and Natalie decided to have their ceremony on land that Kent’s family owns. They knew it would be beautiful in November and they were right. Month and months of planning and preparation went into making the farm land suitable for a wedding venue. Every last detail was planned and Kent being the “do-it-yourselfer” was making last minute site preparations right up until the day of the wedding. The result was a stunning wedding held on the land where Kent and Natalie hope to build a house one day. Everything about the day was perfect. Even though the rain started to creep in, it held off pretty much the entire day and they were able to have the ceremony they had dreamed about.

A great thing about being in the wedding business is that you get the opportunity to “borrow” ideas from weddings you work and you also get to meet a lot of vendors. Kent and Natalie took a lot of ideas from weddings we have shot over the last 4 years and put them into his wedding. If you’re a former bride, there is a chance you may see an idea from your wedding here. Not only that, but when it came time to select a photographer, Kent was able to dig all the way back to a wedding we shot in 2011 and find the photographer that we worked with in Delaware on that wedding. It was nice having a reunion with our friend Hooman from Vesic Photography who always makes sure a wedding day is full of fun.

Wedding Highlights Film :: Jeff + Kathryn :: “You and Me Against the World” :: Asheville NC

Kathryn and Jeff had a beautiful ceremony at The Farm near Asheville, NC. Even though the entire day was a struggle with the weather, in the end, Kathryn and Jeff won and they were able to enjoy their beautiful wedding outdoors as planned. This video is one of our favorites, because it shows Kathryn and Jeff’s personality throughout the day. We had such a great time getting to know their family and wedding party throughout the day and needless to say, this was hands down one of our favorite golf outings to film; so much fun. By the end of the day, we had laughed and loved so much with these two and I am so glad that the joy of their wedding day came through in the video. These two love adventures and you can easily see this is a great start to a new adventure in their lives.

Commercial :: “Why Women Run: The Colorful Truth” :: Fellow Flowers :: Marquette, MI

Back in June of 2012, we met an amazing group of women who invited us to Chicago to start the promotional video project you see below. At the time, all we knew about them was that they started a company centered around running. Initially, it started out as a group of women who wanted to wear the same color of flowers in their hair to a race so that everyone would know they were running together, but it has now grown into something so much more. They are now a company centered around empowering women runners and honoring and celebrating their stories and their inspirations for running.

This promotional video encompasses 15 months of work, where we shot nearly 40 hours of footage across multiple cities and states. As we started this project back in June 2012, our initial goal was just to capture footage of the race and the weekend of the women in Chicago. We then followed them to Michigan, which is where we initially started to hear these stories of women and what inspired them to run. Our goal at that time was to simply capture footage that told their story visually. We met several women on that trip and heard their stories of why they run and what inspires them to keep running and as we kept hearing story after story, we began to get inspired by what they were telling us.

After we got home from that first trip, we sat down and looked at the footage and used some of it to put together some promotional videos for Fellow Flowers. As the months passed by, we began talking with Mel and Tori at Fellow Flowers and realized that while we had this footage of these women, we were missing the heart of their story. We talked with them for a few months and finally the decision was made to bring us back to Michigan to finish the job and with that, we headed back to Marquette, Michigan. It was April of 2013 and Marquette was COVERED in snow. That weekend, they had a race which allowed us to capture even more footage of some of the women featured in this video. Then, on our last day there, we invited all of the women in and sat them down individually and just pressed record on the camera and talked to them…. for HOURS. We asked them what inspired them to run and dove deep into their inspiration for running and wanted to know why Fellow Flowers was so important for them. What followed was something that completely transformed us. When we met Mel and Tori (the women heading up Fellow Flowers,) our entire perception of running was that people did it to stay healthy. As we heard these women pour out their stories, we realized that so much more than that. It was a part of them, it was a part of their story. It was a way for them to express their emotions and honor significant moments in their lives. That’s what Fellow Flowers is all about and that is what we set out to show with this promotional video.

This is a very special project for us. It is the true epitome of why Artifice Films exists. We believe film is the greatest form of storytelling and to date, this has been one of our greatest examples of storytelling through film. We love the fact that we were able to create a promotional video for a company and do the entire thing by telling the powerful stories that drive that company. No flashy graphics, no endless talking heads… Just powerful stories from women who have been transformed by this company and the work they do.

Wedding Film :: JT + Angela :: “#bestweddingever” :: Chicago IL

As you would imagine, there is indeed a story to go along with the title of this wedding highlights film. As you will see, Angela and J.T. had quite the wedding party. It was literally one of the craziest groups of people we have ever been around and they kept the laughs coming all day long. One of the running jokes throughout the day was the deliberate overuse of hashtags in general conversation.  So, in keeping with that tradition, we decided to give the wedding highlights film a name that followed that trend.

We love having the opportunity to travel and Chicago is one of our favorite cities to visit. Every time we are there we have a great time and J.T. and Angela’s wedding was no exception. Their day was one of the most entertaining we have been a part of in a very long time. One of the best things about their wedding was that since Chicago was such an important part of their lives, they really wanted to showcase the city in their pictures and film. They had an early ceremony in the city and following that, they got on board a bus with their wedding party and we spent the next 3 hours going to various locations throughout Chicago capturing J.T and Angela at some of their favorite landmarks. It was truly an adventure we will never forget. When you couple all of that with their beautiful ceremony, the insane party they had at their reception and their unforgettable wedding party, you have a very memorable event and we are so excited to share the highlights with everyone.

Wedding Film :: Anna + Kevin :: “Milk, Eggs, String Cheese…” :: Grace Church :: Greenville SC

know we say that we work with the greatest couples all the time, but honestly, it’s true. We love the fact we get to work with so many amazing couples and Anna and Kevin are no exception. They are truly a prime example of how to make a wedding a celebration of your relationship.

Anna and Kevin have a great story. To make it short, Anna and Kevin met and dated and then decided to take time away from each other, then realized they were truly meant to be with each other, got back together, dated some more and then got married. While most couples would choose to ignore the “time apart” they had in their relationship, Anna and Kevin made a decision to talk about how important that time was in their lives and how that time helped strengthen their relationship and their love for each other. Hearing personalized vows from Kevin and Anna make me realize just how much we love doing what we do. We love capturing raw moments of emotion like Kevin and Anna showed during their ceremony. We also love the fact that they honored their relationship, but didn’t take themselves too seriously during the ceremony. Things like this are what make for memorable weddings and I am so glad we were on hand to capture everything.

Wedding Film :: Ben + Marie :: “The Full Weight of the Word” :: Spartanburg, SC

Where do we even begin with Ben and Marie’s wedding?  Their wedding was insane from the start. There were so many details, so many amazing speeches and so much love being shared that day and we are so glad we were on hand to capture everything.

Ben is the lead vocalist in The Delta Saints and Marie is a Singer / Songwriter. Both of them live in Nashville, TN, but decided to travel back to Marie’s hometown in South Carolina to have their wedding at the Hines family home. It is a beautiful home overlooking the lake and Marie and Ben knew just how to take advantage of the setting to make everything perfect.

Marie spent weeks making sure the smallest details of her wedding were just right. In fact, she actually made a ton of the small details you see in her film herself. From the gold painted books she used on the tables at their reception to the flags for her photos. She even documented a lot of it on her Instagram, which you should follow if you’re not.

Despite all of the beauty surrounding their wedding and the amazing speeches given by their family and friends, the one thing that completely blew us away from their wedding was their vows. True, they are songwriters and creatives at heart, but nothing could prepare us for the words they said to each other. Literally, it was one of those ‘epic’ moments and I am glad we were there to capture it so they can relive it for years to come.

Wedding Highlights Film :: Steve + Meg :: “Someday Has Arrived” :: Baltimore MD

A lot of times, brides ask us our opinions on whether or not they should have a “First Look” the day of the wedding. Our answer is always a resounding YES! This wedding film is the prime example of why we always recommend a couple having a first look. When you watch the video, pay attention to Steve’s expression change when he sees Meg for the first time. It is literally night and day and I can honestly say that is a moment he will remember forever. In all the years we have been shooting weddings, I can honestly say that we have rarely seen a groom respond the same way when he sees the bride for the first time walking down the aisle. There is just something about seeing each other alone before the ceremony that allows you to let your guard down and truly enjoy your time together.

Steve and Meg were married at Celebrations at the Bay in Pasadena, Maryland, which is just outside of Baltimore. It is a beautiful venue with a picturesque view overlooking the bay which provided an amazing backdrop for the ceremony and our post ceremony footage. Before the ceremony, Meg spent the morning at her house getting ready with her family and bridesmaids. While we were there, we noticed an old record player which had been in Meg’s family for years. Her dad took some time to show us how it worked and we were immediately enthralled, which is when the ring shot idea was born.

Meanwhile, Steve was on the other side of town with his groomsmen. We headed over there to capture Steve and his best man putting up signs near the venue before heading back to the house to begin getting ready for the ceremony. Times like this, I wish I could make highlight videos 10 minutes long, because Steve and his groomsmen provided enough comedy to fill the video, but alas, it will have to wait for the wedding film, which we cannot wait to share (Trust us, it will be worth the wait.)

A huge thanks goes to Lee Morton over at Clickspark Films. Lee was on hand to help us out a lot the day of the wedding and he helped us capture the amazing ring shot (which took numerous takes to capture correctly, but it was worth it) shown in this video.

Wedding Highlights Film :: Coley + Kinsey :: “Practice Makes Possible” :: Lowndes Grove Plantation :: Charleston SC

Back in June, we had the great opportunity to film our first wedding at the Lowndes Grove Plantation in Charleston, SC. When Kinsey contacted us to film her wedding, we were extremely excited to be a part of their day. Not only did they seem like a great couple to be around, but the Lowndes Grove Plantation is a beautiful venue and we couldn’t wait to see how we could capture the day.

Kinsey and Coley were married on the front lawn of the plantation, which overlooks the water, but along with that, we got a nice unexpected bonus. Not only did their ceremony have the beautiful backdrop of the water, but they picked the perfect time of day for their ceremony, because just as their ceremony started, the sun began setting into the water and it was breathtaking.

With all of the personal touches Kinsey and Coley put into their wedding, we really wanted to capture the essence of their wedding day and show as much as we could. The only problem was that there was seriously so much that it couldn’t be captured with a 4 minute long video, (Don’t worry, there will be much more in the full wedding film) especially when you had a great story from the officiant and the stunning sunset as a backdrop for the footage we shot of just Kinsey and Coley.
